Lock+Store has partnered EVCo to introduce a green solution to the challenges of moving house or transporting inventory. This innovative partnership offers customers at Lock+Store's Chai Chee and Ayer Rajah facilities hassle-free access to electric vans, with charging and maintenance fully taken care of.
Gone are the days of depending on external moving services. Lock+Store customers can now effortlessly transport furniture and business inventory at their convenience, all through a user-friendly app. The added perk? A reduction in their carbon footprint, aligning with Singapore’s push for environmentally conscious practices.
To complement this initiative, Lock+Store is set to install five electric vehicle (EV) chargers at its flagship Chai Chee facility. Helen Ng, CEO of Lock+Store and Chair of the Self-Storage Association Asia (SSAA), underlines the strategic importance of these enhancements, stating, "The introduction of EV chargers and vans marks a pivotal stride towards realising our vision for a green future within the self-storage sector. It not only enhances the customer experience but also addresses their evolving needs, be it for residential relocations or managing e-commerce inventories efficiently."
These eco-friendly initiatives build upon the ongoing efforts of SSAA member operators, who have been at the forefront of the Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) drive. Several SSAA members in Singapore have already integrated solar panels and edible gardens on their premises, with at least four deploying EV chargers.
Lock+Store Singapore is a subsidiary of General Storage Company which offers self-storage and warehouse solutions in Singapore, Malaysia (Lock+Store Malaysia) and Hong Kong (The Store House Hong Kong). Our mission is to provide affordable and flexible storage and warehouse solutions tailored to the specific needs of individuals, families and businesses.
We made a bold new green push in 2022 with the tagline “A green and caring tomorrow with self storage”. Under this initiative, we installed solar panels and recycling stations at our flagship Chai Chee facility. We also introduced edible gardens at the facility together with SG Gardens to optimise land use and support Singapore’s drive towards food self-sufficiency.
We are committed to community building and uplifting the well-being of Singaporeans and all who live here through our CSR initiatives. We have been sponsoring a self -storage unit for online crowdfunding charity Ray of Hope so they can have a base from which to distribute basic necessities to low-income families in Singapore. We also sponsored a unit for Nature Society Singapore so they can store their business documents and publications documenting Singapore’s rich and varied eco-heritage. Our latest CSR initiative features Charlie the Singapore Special. Under a tie-up with Causes for Animals, tote bags featuring Charlie will be sold at Lock+Store Ayer Rajah, Chai Chee and Tanjong Pagar in December 2023 to raise funds for the charity.
